Please note that access to the backstage area are open and clearly visible during all hours. Please do not spend any time in the event hall during the Compulsory round of the Brewers Cup service.

Festival passes

Please note: All Judges must sign up and obtain their wristbands at the front office upon arrival at the venue. The box office will be open all day Thursday and throughout the full festival. Please ask for Morten.

Parking

Parking are available ​​at Raffinaderivej 6-10 outside of TAP1. The parking fee are paid at the meters

Judges food and drinks

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner at the venue is complementary in the allocated serving times. Food outside of these hours are to be paid for by yourself. 
All judges are granted 20% discount on all beverages. The discount will be added to any specific discount at the time. All beverages in the judges room are complimentary. 

If you wish to dine by yourself you are more then welcome to use our complimentary tips for Copenhagen recommended by industry professionals.

All the volunteers join because they love to help, not only because they love coffee, so please make sure they are being treated very well and please don´t hesitate to offer them a cup of coffee!

Judges FAQ

What should I know about the judging criteria and standards?

You will find the judging guidelines at the top of this page. Please take the time to thoroughly review the scoring system, competition rules, and evaluation methods specific to each competition category. 

Will there be a judging calibration session?

Yes, calibration sessions are scheduled to ensure all judges are aligned and consistent in their evaluations. Details of the session, including exact timing and location, will be shared with you ahead of the event. Attendance is mandatory for all judges.

Are there any conflict-of-interest rules?

Yes. Please disclose any potential conflicts of interest (e.g., personal or professional relationships with competitors or companies involved). We ask judges to remain impartial, ensuring fairness throughout the competition. If you are concerned about judging someone with a conflict, contact the event organizers as soon as possible, it is for their and your benefit only.

How do I get from the airport to the venue or hotel?

​Public Transport: The Copenhagen Airport has convenient bus/train services to the city. Detailed instructions will be provided here.

What are the accommodation arrangements?

If your accommodation has been arranged by the event, you will receive details about your hotel, check-in times, and directions from the airport or venue. If you need an early check-in or late check-out, please contact the event organisers in advance.

 

What time do I need to arrive at the venue?

Please refer to the rep for specific arrival times and schedule for estimated arrival times. Typically, we recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before your judging shifts begin to allow time for check-in and preparation. Don't forget to attend the mandatory registration and calibration session.

 

What should I bring with me?

All necessary judging tools (e.g., scorecards, pens, tasting spoons) will be provided, but feel free to bring any personal items you find helpful for judging. Don’t forget to bring:

  • Passport and Photo ID (for traveling purposes).

  • Comfortable, clean attire (see Dress Code below).

 

Is there a dress code for judges?

Yes. Judges should wear professional, clean, and comfortable clothing. Avoid strong perfumes or scented products, as they can interfere with tasting. Depending on the venue's temperature, you may want to dress in layers to stay comfortable.

 

Will meals or snacks be provided?

Meals and refreshments will be provided during breaks. If you have specific dietary requirements, please inform the event organisers in advance, and we will accommodate your needs if given acceptable notice. You can also find recommendations for nearby restaurants if you'd prefer to explore local options.

 

Is there Wi-Fi at the venue?

Yes, free Wi-Fi will be available at the competition venue. Information on accessing it will be provided upon arrival. 

 

What if I need assistance or have an emergency during the event?

In case of any issues (medical emergencies, travel delays, etc.), contact the event team immediately. If you need immediate assistance, please call 112 for all emergencies thereafter inform the event team.

 

What should I expect regarding event confidentiality?

Judges must keep all competition results, competitor performance, and event details confidential until official announcements are made. You may not discuss specific results with competitors or other non-judging participants at any time outside of the debriefing. For complains or clarification, please refer to the event team and/or the rep.

 

How should I prepare my palate for judging?

To ensure you are in the best condition for accurate tasting, avoid strong foods, alcohol, or tobacco before and during the event. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, and avoid using scented products that may affect your ability to evaluate the coffee's aroma.

 

Can I use my phone during the competition?

Judges should refrain from using phones or personal devices during active judging to maintain focus and impartiality. Phones may be used during breaks.

 

How do I get updates or changes in the event schedule?

Event updates, changes to the schedule, or other important information will be communicated via the schedule or in-person announcements. Please ensure you have access to the event’s communication platform and check it regularly.

 

What do I need to know about the local area?

If you're visiting from out of town, the event organizers have provided you with a guide for restaurants, cafes, and other Copenhagen treats. If you require specific recommendations, don’t hesitate to ask.

Competitors - FAQ

How big are the tables? Espressotable – 180Lx90W cm, Brewers, Cup Tasters and Esp. serving and prep 180Lx90W cm. 

How is the set-up of the tables and do you have to choose how they should stand? Set up is as specified in the rules for nationals and cannot be altered.

Is it possible to move the espresso machine on the table? Yes, you decide the position

Are there any specifications on which grinder I should use? No and yes. There is no mandatory grinder for Barista and Brewers Open service. There´s a Mandatory grinder for Brewers Compulsory only (Eureka SG85).

How many can I have as helpers? One person is the maximum. If they are not registered beforehand, they will not be allowed backstage. 

Is there anywhere I can apply for sponsorship through SCA? No. All sponsorships are to be handled by yourself. We will be happy to assist you contacting existing SCA sponsors.

How much table space do I have for my stuff backstage? Approximately half a 180Lx60W cm table for preliminary, and a full table for finals. 

Can my things backstage take up more than my table? No. You are welcome to use the space below you table. 

 

Is there access to a freezer and fridge? Yes. Only be request at least 7 days before the championship. Access can be granted by request during the infomeeting, if there´s adequate room.

Can I get out with my things before the festival starts? No. Exeptions can be in written in the infomaterial. If it´s not in the material, you cannot store your items at the venue prior. 

What happens if we do not reach 6 participants? The Championship will not count if there aren’t 6 competing baristas. 

Do I have to bring a knockbox with me? Yes. All equitment are to be brought with you be yourself. 

Is it possible to borrow a grinder from sca? No. No grinders are available.

Which filterbasket will be used for the Barista championship? A VST 20g will be supplied. 

Which espressomachine are used for the Barista championship? The current sponsored espressomachine for 2024 is Rocket RE Doppia 26/02-24. 2025 is still unknown
